Mindset
MusicRights

A specialist fund for music rights and catalogs — sourced through proprietary dealflow, owned actively from inside the industry.

A Mindset Ventures fund

Music is one of the few assets that keeps earning long after it is created.

Thesis

The best catalogs rarely reach an auction. We get there first.

Mindset MusicRights acquires and operates middle-market music rights — recorded catalogs, publishing shares and royalty streams. Our dealflow is proprietary: a working production company, live sync relationships, and decades of trust with the artists and composers we buy from. Many of them will only sell to someone they know.

01

Proprietary dealflow

We reach rights holders through relationships — often before a catalog is formally for sale.

02

Insider underwriting

Track-level royalty analysis and chain-of-title diligence, run by people who have closed hundreds of millions in rights transactions.

03

Active ownership

We work the asset after closing — administration, royalty recovery, sync, licensing, re-recording and sweetening — rather than holding and waiting.

Where we invest

Capital collects at the extremes. We work the middle.

Large institutional funds cannot deploy efficiently below the trophy tier, and consumer aggregators stop well short of it. The band in between stays fragmented and relationship-driven — which is where valuations remain rational and the operational work is still undone.

Middle-market catalogs

Seasoned, non-marquee and often under-administered — timeless music that the incumbent funds have simply overlooked.

$1M – $25M
Micro & indie aggregators
$10K – $5M
Annuity-like

Seasoned catalogs produce recurring royalties largely uncorrelated to public equities.

76%

Of US on-demand streams are catalog — and the share keeps rising.

Normalized

Multiples have come back down from the peak of the catalog boom.

New income

Sync, gaming, connected TV and AI licensing keep opening royalty lines that did not exist.

Approach

Value gets created after the deal closes.

Our sync and brand relationships generate upside from the same catalog that a passive buyer cannot access, and that historical earnings rarely reflect.

Administration

Clean metadata, correct registrations and clear chain of title. Unglamorous work that reliably raises what a catalog collects.

Royalty recovery

Finding income that was earned but never paid, sitting unclaimed across collection societies and platforms worldwide.

Sync & licensing

Putting the music back to work in film, television, advertising and games through a network of music supervisors and executives.

Part of Mindset

Two funds, one platform.

Mindset MusicTech backs the companies building the music industry's infrastructure — royalty tracking, music recognition, licensing and artist finance. MusicRights owns the works that infrastructure serves, and uses the portfolio to source, underwrite and operate better than a standalone buyer can.

Both funds sit inside Mindset Ventures, a global venture capital firm with a strong track record of more than ten years investing in early-stage technology companies.
